TOI Exclusive: Cricket, hockey to be ‘core sports’ at CWG 2030

Cricket and hockey have been confirmed as the two core sports for the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad. This decision settles a contest for the mandatory ‘large team sports’ slots. Men’s cricket will return after 32 years in a T20 format, while women’s T20 was featured in 2022.
